General and the Secretary of State for

India in Council.

My dear Sir, I did all I could to bring on this case for hearing. Indeed I deed all I could notwithstanding the practice of our Court. I con- trlvlted to get this fixed for hearing for an early day, and In con- seguence of the Supreme Court being engaged with the trial of long cases which occupied many days. This case is now fixed for the 24th lstant and I feel satisfied that it will then pasitively come on. You have taken a passage in the steamer „Columbo,, which sails on the 23rd Instant. I think It necessary that you should pos¬ tpone your going to the 8th October next. It Is essentially requisi¬ te that you should be here on the day of hearing, in case of your absence the case may be postponed to an indefinite time for any information the court may then require which I may not be able to supply in your absence and thereby the case may stand over for such information to be obtained from New Naukechewan.

Yours faithfully Բ, Paul
